Fort Wayne UEA Accomplishments
Businesses in the Enterprise Zone use tax incentives as a springboard for growth. Over the years, this has meant
nearly $600 million in business investment creating thousands of new jobs. Zone businesses are also community
development partners with the UEA. By giving a portion of their tax savings to the UEA, businesses provide the
financial resources to affect real change in the heart of the city.
With these resources, the UEA has been able to fortify the physical underpinnings that make a community livable.
Roads, sewers, sidewalks and railroad viaducts aren’t glamorous, but if neglected they can undermine a community.
During the past 20 years, the UEA has committed millions of dollars to Enterprise Zone infrastructure.
Adults and children in the Enterprise Zone often need support services to help them meet the challenges of daily life.
Childcare, transportation, skills training, recreation and education all help people lead productive lives.
From 1990 to 2000, the UEA invested nearly $2 million to provide service to thousands of Zone area residents.
